Don’t forget to relax

I’m pretty sure sneaking into the Don Cesar hotel pool was the best idea we had all day. Well after deciding to go to the beach in the rain.

Maybe that or chewing off Dorsey and Meg Martin’s ears. That was pretty tangy.

Hard Vork

Man, these million hour days are pooptronix. Spent the day out on the beat shooting with a Canon 40D, though. That was hot. Kind of ‘fished out’.

Glad to get a call from former fellow, Billy Kulpa. As usual it was mostly just a game of phone tag.

If you’re going to drop your phone in the ocean, at least wait for the new iPhone.

Not tired yet

I’m also wondering when I will get tired of photos of the ocean.

Journalism Paradise

Lots of guest speakers including Al Tompkins and Lane Degregory. Here Jacqui Banasynski gave us the run down on story generating ideas. Brain is a little fried. Tomorrow hittin the streets in Tampa.

Really looking forward to the visual discussions and having wonderful exchanges with the others round here. The roommate finally made it through crappy US Immigration and is here!

The Beach Beat

This will be a hell of a lot of work. 25 of us are divided into 5 groups with two writers, a photographer, designer and a new role as a producer (me). We are covering the “Beach” beat which we were warned does not have many stories nor is near by. However we’re oozing with story ideas. After our sessions we went back out into the field and paddled our way into the private beach of the Pink Hotel. Perks.

Starting with a Storm!

Brian Storm greeted us on our first day at the Poynter Fellowship in St. Petersburg, Florida. Sorry about the low light. And you know… probably going to start the biz soon.
