Our friends at the St. Pete times had a session with the Visual Journalists (VJs). Each group of three selected a photo or painting to recreate. Here I am Matisse’s Jazz Icarus. The photo links to the original painting.

This was surely a test of patience and endurance. The whole project was done in 90 minutes and I was awkwardly and unnaturally laying like that for about an hour. I’m wearing black napkins on my feet and hands, a blazer on backwards, a dress over my head and an apple is cut in half to make the heart.

Grilled the copy editors from Orlando on the redesign while at the ACES conference. Tory Hargro showed up and there’s just so much more to talk about!

Tory was here for a few days and first and foremost it was wonderful to see him again. I snapped photos during his “How I plan to stay employed for the next 10 years” but they didn’t do him right.

His presentation was wonderful and engaging. Also, I think the designers are quite happy because he had a warm way of sharing his techincal expertise.

Sometime Jose gets in front of the class and teaches the Jeremy’s about the internets.

Andrew DeVigal shows us the hips and hows of some of the New York Times’ smart pieces online. We asked and asked questions till the cows came home. So much to do from here…
